A walk-in interview will be held for the position of Project Assistant (2 nos) to work in a Department of Science and Technology, Government of India funded project titled “Assessment on niche specific oxygenic photoautotrophic organisms for evaluation of Bhagirathi-Hooghly River basin water quality: a biotic index based management proposal”. The project aims to develop robust scientific framework using novel approaches for water quality index with respect to anthropogenic pollution in the Bhagirathi-Hooghly River basin. The project position will be initially for a period of one year but can be extended by another two years subject to satisfactory performance.

Essential qualifications:
Highly motivated candidates with M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Botany/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Environmental Sciences with minimum 55% marks can apply for the position of Project Assistant. Ability to design and conduct field work activities along with evidence of research aptitude is highly desirable.

Stipend : The salary will be Rs 22,000/- per month (consolidated) as per the rules.

Mohanpur campus of IISER Kolkata.

Important guidelines :
  1. The appointment will be  on contractual basis/  purely temporary and  co-terminus with the  project, and the  incumbent shall not  have any claim for  regular appointment  under  IISER kolkata.
  2. The candidate must  bring one set of their  complete biodata in  original, reprints of  papers with selfattested  copies of the  testimonials(certificates,  mark sheets and  degrees) from  matriculate onwards  and age proof with two  passport size  photographs along with  all originals with them.  
  3. The period of  appointment project assistant will  be initially for a period of  till to termination of project and is likely to  be extended further subject to  satisfactory  performance of  candidate.
  4. The project assistant may also leave the  assignment, on their  own volition, by giving  one month notice. 
  5. At  the end of the  contracted period, the project assistant will have no right to claim any employment or  engagement in the IISER kolkata.
  6. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing  in interview. No  separate letter will be  issued. 
  7. Candidates fulfilling the Essential Qualification only need to attend the walk-in-interview. Candidate should mention for which group, he is going to appear in the prescribed Performa for the interview.
