Introduction to SRFP-2019

The Centre offers summer fellowships for two months to bright undergraduate and MSc students studying in India. This programme has proved to be popular and competitive; each year, about 2000 students from all over India apply for the ~80 fellowships awarded. All the fellowships are supported by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. Students are placed with research groups at JNCASR or with scientists elsewhere in India. They are paid travel expenses and a monthly stipend of Rs.10,000/-. Selected students get the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research, and several summer projects have led to publications in leading journals. Many of the summer students of past years have gone on to pursue graduate studies and a research career, at the JNCASR or at another leading university.

Objectives of Summer Research Fellowship :

The overall objective of the summer research fellowship is to expose the student to the work environment in the field of life science, material science, engineering science, physical science etc.  In particular, the summer research fellowship program will:

1) Enable the students to gain valuable practical experience in different field,

2) Test the students' career interests.

3) Provide the students with in depth knowledge about career fields.

4) Develop the students' job-related skills.

5) Enhance the students' civil engineering knowledge acquired in class through field experience.

6) Teach the students on how to deal with the society outside the university/institution.

7) Enable the students to earn some income.

8) Provide the training organizations with a better assessment of the quality of future human resources, and suggest improvements,

9) Enhance the relationship between the All fields to public and private sectors.

Scientist unplugged 10 Defense machanism in Bacteria

VIRAL ATTACK   Viruses called phages (shown landing on the surface of a cell in this transmission electron micrograph) can infect and kill bacteria. Scientists have just found a slew of new defense mechanisms that help bacteria resist such assaults. Credit: Sciencenews Since long decade researcher are looking for new defense mechanism in bacteria against viral invaders. There is only and alone immune system of bacteria "CRISPR" which protects bacteria from virus attacks. Now recent research of researcher have discovered TEN set of genes which protects which protects bacteria from virus invaders, A Microbiologist from university of California, San Diego's, Joseph bondy Denomy says the inventions Doubles the protective mechanism of immune system known in bacteria. Bacteria are vulnerable to deadly virus called bacteriophages which uses the bacterial genetic machine for there own purposes and replicate itself and produce viral DNA. Meny of the bacteria are la...

Imagine world without Biotechnology ?

Over the past Two years, I have always wondered and surprised how life would be without the massive Biotechnological inventions of today. Perhaps everyone wonders the same thing. We are in the 21st century! Yeah, I am supposed to embrace biotechnology, it's something that is inborn, something that I found and cannot imagine my life without. But what would I do without this precious gift? Life back in the day would be a nightmare. Ideally, much of the paper will focus on how life would be without biotechnology by basing the argument on all spheres of life. Imagine living in a world where Biotechnology didn’t exist. That Antibiotics, you have, Computers you’re reading on, or even that nice Food you Eat, all gone with a single blink of an eye. From cultured meat to a “MicrobeMiner” for antibiotics and liquid biocomputers, a new wave of consumer biotechnology products is transforming the world. The world you would be living in would be nothing but an empty, dark and cold...
